Rethinking my training plan
I knew my preparations for the recent Krabi International Trail race were a little unconventional. But I had some hope that they would be effective.
Naturally, when running at latitudes within 10° of the equator at elevations below 2,000 m, it is going to be hot. I prepared for that with some strenuous midday soaks in a local hot spring.
In retrospect, this hot spring treatment did acclimate me to the temperature, but perhaps it wasn’t strenuous enough in developing my running muscles. After my 54th place finish, I’m rethinking everything. That includes my diet.
I started a detox program in August when I discovered this new Colgate flavor. A month into this program I can’t say that it is helping with my race times.
I may need to cut back on the potato chips. Or maybe I need to run some more?
