I take this opportunity to offer some unsolicited advice on running routes at three particularly scenic places. At Taketomi-jima, the loop around the center of the island covers 3.3 km on the main road.

{.asset-media-link} The floating restaurants off the eastern part of Phuket Island serve excellent seafood in an incomparable environment. When the sun is out, and the wind is blowing, the ambience is inimitable.

To explain the recent lacuna here: I’ve been writing a lot, and studying a lot, and as I was rearranging some documents today various passport photos fell out, and visa application documents dropped to the floor, and I remembered that I’ve been especially busy with consular matters.

This isn’t very coherent, but my activities at the start of this month haven’t been coherent either. Let’s pick a few of the highlights. How about ice cream at 7 a.

If we would only consider my competitive record this month, which consisted of two victories, and zero defeats, this report would be a short one. But the manner in which these victories were won, at two of the most storied courses in Asia, encourages me to describe these matches in more detail.

{.asset-media-link} I refer, of course, to a week of farewell parties – soubetsukai (送別会). It is rather late in the year for a shinnenkai, and much too early for a bonnenkai, but it was a fine time for soubetsukai in Ishigaki, Fukuoka, and Tokyo.

I’ve managed to pass another month without playing a round of golf. But I visited 16 golf courses in June, visualizing many fine shots, and one expects that my upcoming return to the competitive arena will be filled with them.

In the midst of a trip to Japan, I took a trip to Tokyo. It was a windy day, and it was a bit of a construction site, and I was happy to have the hard hat until I discovered that so many of the other people at this meeting were not wearing one.
