Extraordinary In-room Accessories
I’ve been going through some accumulated papers, maps, receipts, name cards, foreign currency, the types of things that one typically accumulates during travel, and that at some time must be organized, filed, and purged, as the case may be. In so doing, I came across this exceptional memento from a recent hotel stay.
The proprietors provided a handy plastic bag with instructions for suffocation, I thought at first. Then I imagined that the bag might be for use on an intruding forest animal, should one somehow find its way into the room. Some have tried to tell me this is for temporary use, in case of a fire. I suppose that is it, but I can’t tell, for I struggle to read the instructions, beyond the self-evident fact that one is apparently to place the bag over one’s head, and then to secure tightly.
